Rail

Clear provides the technical expertise and detailed understanding of these issues to fully assess the impacts of proposed rail developments and the performance of exiting rail infrastructure.

Within new developments and re-development schemes, key requirements are the consideration of flood risks due to external influences from fluvial and tidal sources, but equally importantly the potential for pluvial flooding from surface water runoff. The drainage of surface water runoff from track drainage, station buildings, platforms, access roads and car parks must be fully considered to manage the volumetric runoff and the water quality impacts of this drainage. Wherever possible, sustainable drainage (SuDS) solutions have been implemented with careful selection of SuDS techniques to minimise maintenance requirements.

Clear has undertaken rail development projects requiring flood risk assessment, drainage impact assessment and detailed drainage design.

Clear has also undertaken rail projects to investigate performance deficiencies in existing rail infrastructure such as track drainage. Projects have included the survey, investigation and modeling of track drainage systems to understand the root cause problems, identify capacity restrictions and develop effective solutions to prevent flooding of tracks.
