Integrated Urban Drainage Modelling
Clear has extensive experience in the hydraulic modelling of the different aspects of the urban drainage system, including surface wataer systems, foul and combined sewers, culverted watercourses, river systems, overland flows and SuDS applications. Through a number of studies, Clear has successfully integrated the different modelling components to produce true integrated models representing the different drainage systems and the interactions between these.
We have used the software linking programme Open MI to link models constructed in different modelling environments, allowing true parallel model simulation.
Our staff contributed and edited the recently released WaPUG Integrated Urban Drainage Modelling Guide 2009.
Integrated modelling studies have been undertaken by Clear to investigate flooding and water quality drivers, and have linked the following system type models:
- sewer and 2D overland flow models to undertake detailed flooding appraisals and optioneering
- sewer and river models to represent pollution problems for a large number of CSOs
- sewer, culvert, river and overland flow models to undertake site specific and strategic flood risk analysis
- sewer and coastal models for pollutant plume travel and dispersal investigations
