Mitigation Schemes
Almost every ecological assessment undertaken to inform a planning application will require some level of mitigation or enhancement. At the very least it is considered favourable by conservation officers at the local authority that a developer erects bat and bird boxes on buildings and trees post-construction.
As a result, Clear has significant experience in designing and implementing mitigation schemes as part of the development proposals and development completion.
It is Clear’s ability to apply pragmatic solutions in relation to mitigation that enables our clients to integrate affordable and achievable measures that fulfil their role in protecting or enhancing nature conservation value.
Clear fully recognises each of our client’s requirements and accepts restrictions in budgets and timings that should lead to the design of mitigation that may be required on a scheme.
Simple mitigation solutions most frequently used include the erection of bird nest boxes and bat boxes on a site’s existing or new buildings and on trees.
In contrast, Clear has also designed and implemented numerous complex mitigation strategies for Great Crested Newt and Reptile translocation projects including fencing location and design, trap location and design and the creation and design of the required receptor site.
