GIS Mapping
All survey data gathered by Clear is included in the body of our reports and in plan form. We use MapInfo GIS mapping software to accurately plot habitats and features of ecological interest so that the impacts and report outcomes can be quickly and easily assessed by the reader.
When in the field, the ecologists use sensitive GPS equipment to geo-reference the locations of ecological features which are then transferred into the GIS software allowing the accuracy of our reports to be maintained and our recommendations to be based on facts.
All our ecologists maintain a high level of training in handling GIS software and undergo regular in-house seminars with experts across our business to enable us to maintain the standards we ambitiously aim for.
The use of such techniques has allowed us to recommend slight changes to residential layouts, pipeline routes and working areas enabling many ecological impacts to be avoided, which apart from being ecologically sound has also saved our clients from costly delays and mitigation schemes.
