Technicians & Apprentices

Internships

We offer both ‘Summer Placements or Internships’ and ‘Year in Industry’ Placements. These are for students undertaking a relevant degree such as geography, civil engineering, ecology or other environmental or water related. Generally we are looking for students coming to the end of their penultimate year, but will consider other applications.

Technicians and Apprentices

If you’re just finishing school and looking for a rewarding career we have junior technician roles available with on the job training provided. All we require for you to apply to the role is GCSEs grades C or above in Maths and English, an interest in the water industry and using computers, enthusiasm and a positive attitude to learning.

Graduates

If you’re about to graduate, or have recently completed your degree in an engineering or environmental discipline with a first or second class degree, we’d like to hear from you. We’re especially interested in graduates whose degree courses have specialised in wastewater, hydraulics, flood risk or ecology or who have a keen interest in these areas.

RPS Environmental Management Ltd employs new graduates throughout our business, in all divisions based at our offices in Derby, Sheffield or Glasgow. 


No previous experience is needed, however a good level of computing skills, knowledge or any modelling software and GIS knowledge is an advantage.

We offer a competitive training scheme with the opportunity for graduates to apply for enrolment on the industry leading Post Graduate Certificate in Managing Urban Drainage, accredited by The University of Derby.

What are your entry requirements? 

For Technicians and Apprentices, we're looking for GCSE Maths and English at grade C or above, plus lots of enthusiasm!

For Graduates, we’re looking for a degree (first or second class honours) in a related subject, along with an enthusiasm to learn more about our industry.

For those with experience, each vacancy is different but if you have recent or past work experience in a relevant field, this will be advantageous.

Where will I be based?

The majority of employees work at our head office in Derby, or in our Sheffield and Glasgow offices; in addition, a number of employees are seconded into our clients’ offices. 

Will I be asked to work away from home?

This depends on the role, but the majority of our employees are required to travel for work from time-to time, and are sometimes required to stay away from home for an evening or two.
